Twins-Rangers Series Preview

The Texas Rangers (14-7) come to town for the Twins first four-game series of the season. The Rangers have not lost a series yet in 2013, and have won five of their past six games. Nelson Cruz had four home runs and 12 RBI over that stretch. The Rangers took the series last season, 9-2.

The Twins have also won five of their past six games, with Joe Mauer hitting .400 to raise his average on the season to .366. Mauer, however, has hit just .243 against Texas in his career.

Vance Worley will face off against Nick Tepesch in the opener at 7:10. Worley had gotten off to a slow start to the season, including a one-inning, nine-run outing against the Mets on April 12, but came through with seven innings of one-run ball in his most-recent start. Rookie Tepesch had to leave his most-recent start after being hit in the wrist in the second inning. In his previous two starts, Tepesch lasted at least five innings. He averages eight strikeouts per nine innings.
