Late last night and early this morning, the Twins brought up Pedro Hernandez from AAA Rochester and activated Anthony Swarzak from the DL. Tyler Robertson was optioned to Rochester and Cole De Vries was retroactively placed on the 15-day DL with forearm tightness in his throwing arm.
Hernandez, who had not pitched for Rochester yet this year, completed five innings against the Orioles today, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks, while striking out three. The lefty allowed all three of his runs in the second inning and benefited from a double play to end the third, then retired the next six Baltimore batters in order.
Swarzak also benefited from a double play following a wild pitch in his inning-plus of work. He threw 1.1 innings without allowing a run and struck out one.
