The Minnesota Twins announced this morning that they have cut starters Sam Deduno and PJ Walters.
Deduno pitched well this spring for the Dominicans in the World Baseball Classic and, with Scott Diamond out to begin the season, he was likely set to be in the Opening Day starting rotation. Instead, he will begin the season in AAA due to groin tightness.
Walters pitched well this spring until his most-recent outing, his first Grapefruit League start.
The demotions mean that Liam Hendriks and Cole De Vries will begin the season in the rotation, along with Vance Worley, Mike Pelfrey and Kevin Correia.
