Minnesota Twins Make First Spring Training Cuts

The Twins reassigned five players to minor league camp today, the first cuts of spring training. The players are Bryan Augenstein, Nick Blackburn, Alex Meyer, Lester Oliveros and Esmerling Vasquez.

Augenstein and Vasquez were long shots to make the bullpen, and Blackburn and Oliveros are injured. Meyer is a top prospect who could begin the season in AA.

Before the Twins posted their press release, La Velle Neal reported that Josmil Pinto, BJ Hermsen, Chris Herrmann and Daniel Santana were packing their bags, but none were announced as cuts by the team.
