Hot Twins Action: Chris Colabello

I never would have predicted the Italians putting a 14-4, mercy-rule drubbing on Team Canada, but I don’t think anyone could have predicted the past 12 months Chris Colabello‘s had: signed with the Twins out of independent ball, put up very good numbers in his first taste of affiliated baseball and crushed in the Mexican League over the winter…and then today he went 4-5 with 4 RBI, including this three-run shot 25 seconds in:

That’s a pretty swing. Good for him.

Drew Butera hit a 2-run double, and Nick Punto got in on the action, too, going 2-4 with 2 runs scored. Justin Morneau went 1-2 with a walk.

Italy has already won twice with one game remaining as the Americans play their first game of the WBC against Mexico at 8pm CST.
