Joe Nathan Signs With Texas Rangers

Former Twins Closer Joe Nathan has signed a two year/15 million dollar contract with the Texas Rangers. This past season, Joe Nathan became the Twins all-time save leader with 260 saves. He had a career-high 47 saves in 2009, before Tommy John surgery shut down his season. On behalf of everyone here at Puckett’s Pond, I wish Joe Nathan luck, except when he’s playing the Twins. It certainly was a fun ride.

Say it ain’t so Joe, say it ain’t so.

While I’m not upset we didn’t bring Nathan back, from a purely fan perspective, I am a little sad. We can surely find someone else to plug into the closer role with a smaller price tag, but it definitely puts a dampener on my day.
