Week in Review

Happy Veterans’ Day.

If you are a member of the Armed Forces reading this overseas, I wish you a safe and swift return home. If you are a veteran reading this at home, then I hope you can spend today kicking back and relaxing with a cold drink. You’ve certainly earned it. For everyone else, buy a veteran a beer if you get a chance today.

This has been a very busy week for the Twins and for Puckett’s Pond, so let’s take a minute to look back on what we did here, in case you might have missed it:

The big news for the Twins, of course, was the firing of Bill Smith. New/former GM Terry Ryan has a big job ahead of him.

Earlier in the week, Eric Pleiss took a lighthearted look at Michael Cuddyer’s free agency decision soon after we learned that the Phillies were in hot pursuit. Eric then turned his attention to  Jason Kubel.

Taking time out from the present day news, we argued that Jim Kaat should be a Hall of Famer, and so should Tony Oliva.

But the week ended on a very scary note, as former Twins Wilson Ramos was kidnapped in Venezuela. The only good news is that signs indicate the kidnappers do not want to kill him – they just want ransom money. Hopefully Mr. Ramos will be safe and out of their hands very soon.
