Just over a week ago, Nathaniel Stoltz broke down the early returns on the Pitch F/X data for Liam Hendriks and I linked to it. On Thursday*, the Twins were again part of his series, but this time around the subject was Scott Diamond.
I encourage everyone to check it out, not only because I am really enjoying the series, but also because it paints a relatively positive picture of his potential future in the major leagues.
Though Nathaniel presents a good case based on the data, I’m not sold. I just can’t get see Diamond having much value to any organization short of being Triple-A filler to be called up in case of emergency only.
- With Twins: 5.08 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, 3.9 BB/9 and 4.4 SO/9 in 39.0 IP
- With Rochester: 5.56 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 6.6 SO/9 in 123.0 IP
*Sorry I’m a few days late in passing this along, I spent the weekend with the wife in kids in Manhattan, Kansas visiting family.
