If the current edition of the Twins is a little tough for you to watch, here’s a little bit of good news. MLB Network has chosen Game 7 of the 1991 World Series as the second greatest game of the television era.
The two hour special ran this morning, and it will be repeated tonight at 9:00 p.m. Central Time. Jack Morris and John Smoltz join Tom Verducci and Bob Costas in the studio to talk about the game. If you’re a Twins fan, the chances are you know almost all there is to know about this game by now, but I for one can never get tired of it. A few interesting revelations came out during the broadcast. The most interesting, to me, was whem Morris revealed that he had asked Tom Kelly to let him pitch Game 6 on two days rest. It must have been a tempting offer for TK, but fortunately he made the right decision.
Spoiler Alert: the Twins won!
You can check out the list of MLB network’s Top 20 games here. The #1 game hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but it is almost certainly going to be Game 6 of the 1975 World Series, when Carlton Fisk waved his walk-off home run fair.
