The Twins have signed 17 year old RHP Felix Jorge for $250,000, according to Ben Badler of Baseball America. Jorge didn’t sign last summer even though he was eligible, which was mostly due to doubts about his velocity. He had a good workout for scouts in January, which led to him being signed. (By the way, that the Dominican Prospect All Star Game is in January is awesome.)
Jorge throws in the low 80s to mid 90s, but reports are good about him having the ability to throw strikes and a good breaking pitch. The fact that he is 6’4″ and only 175 pounds suggests to me that Jorge will fill out and increase his MPH to the point where he is sitting in the low 90s and hopefully dial it up to the 94-95 range when he needs it.
