There are sources out there that have the Twins solidly in 3rd clearly behind Detroit and Chicago. It is my impression that most sources view it as a 3-team toss up or have the Twins picked as the favorite. Erin is correct in her assessment that a lot of the pessimism surrounding the Twins comes from the fanbase of the team more than other sources. That was part of what I was trying to get at, but I think I missed the mark a bit when it comes to conveying that in the above. Personally, I still think the Twins are the front runner to win the division and I don't think that the gap has closed all that much. But I say that being of the belief that Nishi is going to be an upgrade over Hudson and that a bullpen is the easiest thing to rebuild/overhaul with "spare parts" from one season to the next. I'll get into my rationale and reasoning with an in depth column (in the next month or so) but barring some significant shifts in the AL Central landscape I'll be picking the Twins in 1st place.
