The Twins made an offer to Miguel Sano, but they made a couple of other great signings. They signed Dominican shortstop Jorge Polanco for a 700k bonus. They also signed Germany’s Max Kepler, who is widely considered the best European prospect ever. Kepler’s bonus is believed to be the largest for a European. His five tools reportedly should all be above average according to ESPN’s Keith Law. I rail against Bill Smith every chance I get, but this is one thing he got right. The Twins need to spend money in Latin America, and to a lesser extent in Europe and Australia, to compete with big budget teams.
Sorry for the short post today, but there really isn’t much to report until Sano signs. Sources say that it is a two team race between Pittsburgh and Baltimore, but hopefully the Twins personal relationship with Sano will help get it done.
P.S. – This is the funniest tweet ever.
